Old Friends, New Challenges!

Erin Moffatt and I have worked together on and off for 15 years! Wow, time flies!

I think I was explaining that the helicopter comes from the sky…Erin seems unconvinced

I first met Erin when she worked on our chronic wasting disease (CWD) hunter surveillance program in Western Northern in 2005. She then came back to do her Masters on CWD with Trent Bollinger, CWHC Western Northern regional director, which she completed in 2010.

I always enjoyed working with Erin especially doing field work with her. There are a quite few tales of us getting lost, falling down coulees and surviving on potato chips and Nutella.

Since finishing her Masters Erin has been busy! She started a family and worked at the CWHC National Office for a couple of years as the Data and Communications Coordinator.

Even after 15 years Erin still doesn’t believe me.

Fast forward to 2019 and Erin is back in Western Northern just as I was leaving. I moved to the National office full-time in November 2019 as the Knowledge Mobilization Officer, which allows me to explore new areas of interest including science communication and data management. Erin took over my position in Western Northern as wildlife biologist/trusty sidekick to Trent.

We are both very excited to see what the future holds for us…who knows maybe you can teach old dogs new tricks?!?
