Dissecting Animal Health: CWHC Western/Northern Hosts Necropsy Course

In early February, staff and graduate students from CWHC Western Northern hosted a one day necropsy course. Fifteen conservation officers and biologists from Ministry of Environment and Parks Canada came to Saskatoon to attend the course. The morning was spent in the classroom discussing necropsy techniques and common diseases of wildlife. In the afternoon the participants were able to get their hands dirty and necropsy deer, moose and pronghorn. Cases included suspected chronic wasting disease and incidents of trauma.

It was an excellent opportunity for us to engage with our partners and emphasize the importance of our relationship. We hope to continue offering such courses to our partner agencies in the future.
