Summer Students – Part 3
The Western/Northern region is excited to welcome two summer students to our crew:
Jorn Schumann is a toxicology student who is excited to spend time doing field work and to learn more about the disease transmission vectors at play in Saskatchewan’s ecology.
In his spare time Jorn likes to travel through the mountains, climbing and mountain biking on whatever he can. This summer he is most looking forwards to forming a connection with people and critters who are meant to be protected by CWHC’s current research.
Lisa Lee is a veterinary student entering her third year at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, with a special interest in prion diseases.
Through the Veterinary Student Internship Program (VSIP) at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Lisa will be investigating the epidemiology of Chronic Wasting Disease in Western Canada under the guidance of Dr. Alex McIsaac. She is also excited to be working with CWHC-Western/Northern this summer to learn more about wildlife surveillance and how it can be used to inform disease policy.
