New Post-Doc at CWHC-BC

CWHC-BC is thrilled to welcome their first post-doctoral student, Kaylee Byers.

Kaylee Byers

Kaylee will be joining the BC node for at least the next year and working on a range of projects regarding wildlife surveillance and research. In addition to taking leadership role regarding the core functions of the CWHC BC, Kaylee will be aiding in the development of provincial AIV and CWD surveillance programs.

Kaylee is currently a PhD Candidate in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of British Columbia. Her thesis involves understanding the disease ecology of urban rats by elucidating aspects of rat ecology. She is a Vanier, Killam, and Public Scholar, and recently completed a Friedman Fellowship in Sri Lanka with the Sri Lanka Wildlife Health Centre. She is also a passionate science communicator, hosting Vancouver’s monthly science seminar series “Nerd Nite” www.vancouver.nerdnite.com), as well as delivering science communication workshops through the organization SciCATs (www.scicats.org).
