Métis Spirit

The CWHC has featured wildlife artists in our annual report previously and this year we are honoured to feature the work of Métis artist Phyllis Poitras-Jarrett. Phyllis resides in Regina, Saskatchewan and draws her inspiration from her traditional Métis and Indigenous heritage.

Her Métis Spirit Animal Series, some of which are featured in our report, highlights the connections between humans and animals in the natural world woven together with both unique and traditional Métis beadwork. Her artwork is bright and colourful to represent the beautiful flora and fauna around us and each piece is named to symbolize a basic human value.

Her philosophy about nature aligns closely with that of the CWHC. We both value the importance of keeping the environment healthy and clean for future generations.

We hope you enjoy her artwork as much as we do!
