Introducing Tessa McBurney, CWHC’s new Atlantic Bat Conservation Project Technician

Tessa McBurney has recently joined the CWHC Atlantic as the new Atlantic Bat Conservation Project Technician. Her work will include writing Standard Operating Procedures and Best Management Practices for excluding bats from anthropogenic structures in collaboration with the province and Nuisance Wildlife Control Operators. She is a recent graduate from Trent University with a Bachelor of Science Honours in Conservation Biology. Her honour’s thesis assessed how mobile acoustic surveys as outlined by the North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat) protocol might be adapted to improve monitoring of PEI bat populations. She is very passionate about bats, and so is excited to be starting her career in wildlife conservation working to protect and conserve them.
