Decrease in salmon linked to higher stress in bears

Research from the lab of Dr. Judit Smits, an associate member of the Alberta regional CCWHC office, links the decline in salmon in the pacific coast with higher stress in bear populations. This work was presented by Heather Bryan, PhD student supervised by Dr. Smits, at the 61^st International Wildlife Disease Association (WDA) meeting held at Lyon, France, where she received the Terry Amundson Best Student Presentation Award.
