Introducing Dr. Laura Bourque – Wildlife Pathologist CWHC Atlantic
CWHC Atlantic would like to introduce wildlife pathologist Dr. Laura Bourque!
Laura recently joined the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island as the new wildlife pathologist succeeding Dr. Scott McBurney who retired in January. Laura graduated from AVC in 2013 and graduated from the University of Guelph’s doctor of veterinary science program in anatomic pathology in 2017, and is currently preparing for the American College of Veterinary Pathologists board exam.
Although still new to the position Laura has already participated in two impressive projects, the necropsy of a blue whale that recently washed ashore near Liverpool, Nova Scotia and the necropsy of a Sowerby’s beaked whale on Sable Island, Nova Scotia.
Laura enjoys reading, racket sports, gardening, painting, and is currently learning how to play the cello.
