The CCWHC is pleased to announce that our Executive Director, Ted Leighton, was recently elected a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. Fellows elected to the Academy are recognized by their peers nationally and internationally for their contributions to the promotion of health science. They have demonstrated leadership, creativity, distinctive competencies and a commitment to advance academic health science. The induction ceremony took place in Ottawa on September 18th.  Karen Chad, Vice President for Research at the University of Saskatchewan said that CAHS Fellows “have made enormous contributions in their respective fields and this recognition demonstrates the great impact they have had nationally and internationally.”

“I am very honoured by this Fellowship,” Ted said. “I see it as confirmation at the highest level of the high value to society that comes from its investment in research, management and public outreach associated with the health and disease in wild animals. I feel this honour and recognition is given not to me alone but also to all of my co-workers in the Canadian Cooperative Wildlife Health Centre who share a commitment to wildlife and environmental conservation, to human and animal health and to international advancement through knowledge sharing.”
